Multi-Factor Authentication

Important Information for All Users of Online Banking

To further enhance our security and to protect the privacy and security of your personal information we have implemented a new security feature. This new security feature, referred to as Multi-Factor Authentication, uses an image and phrase known only to you and our bank to help you identify that you are at our Web site, not a fraudulent look-alike site.

In addition, this new security feature allows us to better identify you. When you enroll in our new security system, we will be able to identify the computer you are using. If you or anyone else should attempt to access your account from a different computer we will ask for additional information known only by you. Once identified, you will have the chance to register this additional computer with our bank.

The fact that we are now identifying you by something you have as well as by something you know, is called Multi-Factor Authentication. In the past we only used one factor, something you know.

The first time you access our Online Banking application after the implementation of the new feature, you will automatically be taken to the enrollment process. This process is very simple and only takes a minute to complete.

You will be asked to select an Image and assign a phrase to the image. You can choose from thousands of images. You will also be asked to enter your email address and to select 3 challenge questions and supply the answers to them. At the end of the enrollment process you will be asked if the computer you are using is your personal computer or a public computer. If you are using the computer you normally use to access Online Banking, register it. If you are using a public computer, do not register it.

If you enroll from your home computer and then attempt to access Online Banking from your work computer, the system will recognize that someone is trying to access your account from a different computer. Because we recognize your work computer as not being the computer with which you originally enrolled, the system will challenge your login by requiring you to enter the correct answer to one of the challenge questions which you completed when you enrolled. After successfully answering the challenge question you will be asked if this computer should be enrolled. If the computer you are using is a computer you use often to access Online Banking and is not a public computer, register it.

Important facts to remember about our new security feature:

After you enter your Login ID, you will see a new screen that displays your personal image and phrase. If the image and phrase are not the one you set up, do not enter your password. Call us immediately if this should happen. If you recognize your image and phrase, then you are assured that you are on our website and you can safely enter your password.

If you attempt to access Online Banking from a computer that was not the one from which you enrolled, your identity will be challenged. Answer the challenge question and you will be allowed to log in. If you wish to register the new computer as an additional valid computer, you will be given that option.
